For the love of sunflowers (poem) by Cassie Kinney

I close my eyes
As I smell each sunflower
Around the yard,
Growing in compost;
And they smell sweet--
So sweet it takes me to oblivion;
I stand in fervor
With my lips agape,
I have a head rush,
My heart palpitates,
Breath is taken away.
